First Day of Preschool

Bethany on her first day of Preschool
August 21, 2012

Bethany LOVES preschool.  She goes every day from 12:30-4:00 to Phillips Ranch Youth World Preschool.  She starts asking if it's time to go starting around 9:00 am every day.  When I tell her we have to wait until after lunch, she insists on eating right then (sometimes within 30 min of finishing breakfast).

Her 3 teachers are Miss Laura, Miss Kristen and Miss Helen

She is so lucky to have her cousin Katee in her class too.

Before the first day, we had a special lunch with Grandma and Grandpa.  Then everyone came to see the girls off.

Bethany after I picked her up.  So happy!

Tough Biker Gang

Over the summer, my Grandma Wily had an event at her retirement community where they brought in some motorcycles and had a barbecue.  My kids had a great time-  Looks like Grandma is having fun too!!

24th of July Hike

Okay, so I'm back!  I've taken a break from my blog in all the craziness of moving, but I'm going to try to post a little more regularly now.   I'll start with some highlights from summer:

On the 24th of July we took a small hike in Pleasant Grove.  It was a great day and we had a lot of fun. Grandma and Grandpa Wily joined us.

Kyle had been crying because there were a lot of big dogs and he was scared- but he managed to smile for this picture

We made it to the waterfall!

Trip to Boston

We had an amazing time in Boston over Spring Break.  It is an amazing city with so much to do and see.

We took the trolley tour which was a good way to see everything.

One of our first stops was to tour the USS Constitution ("Old Ironsides")  We had an excellent tour guide who told the kids (and us) all about the history of the oldest naval ship that is still around- it was build in 1797 when George Washington ordered that the US needed a navy for protection.  It got the nickname "Old Ironsides" because in the War of 1812 the cannonballs bounced off the side and didn't hurt the crew.  They still take it out several times a year.

The boys learned how rope is made.
This is how the sailors slept aboard the USS Constitution.  Comfy Jake?
Kyle and Beth "scrubbing the deck"
We visited the Public Garden which is where the story "Make Way for Ducklings" is set. These are the statues of Mrs. Mallard and her ducklings (we read the book before we came).  One thing I loved about Boston is how many nice parks there were.  It was very clean and family friendly.

Normally they have the "swan boats" in this pond behind Jake, but we were a little too early in the season to take a ride.

We stayed in a beautiful hotel called The Custom House (by Marriott).  This is the view from our room (left)
They had a great activity room and game center for the kids.  After exploring the city we were able to relax and play at the hotel.

I have more pictures, but they are on my phone.  Possibly more to come...

Happy Birthday Mom!

While we were visiting over Christmas, my Mom celebrated her 60th birthday.  She is one amazing lady and is the most active 60 year old I know.  I hope to be like her someday (actually I wish I were like her right now!)  For her birthday, she wanted to run to McDonald's then have breakfast there.  We call it the "Bill Clinton Diet."

The Big Apple!

In November, I had the opportunity to visit New York City with some of my friends.  We had a great day with excellent weather (for November!)  It was a blast!

Eating Pizza:

Visiting the 9-11 Site (We didn't have tickets for the memorial, so there wasn't too much to see)

Taking on the "Occupiers"  We talked with them for a long time- Definitely some interesting views...
